Using the solution for production scheduling with the planning system Preactor (now Siemens Opcenter APS), company LIP Bled shortened the time for plan preparation, improved delivery times, shortened the production process and provided an overview of the occupancy of production.

LIP Bled is a modern company with more than 60 years of tradition in the timber industry. It ranks among the 20 largest European manufacturers of interior doors and is the largest company for wood processing in Slovenia and the largest exporter in the wood industry.

The company wanted to manage a diverse manufacturing process, but the tools they were using couldn’t cope with this task. The two main challenges they were facing were following the deadlines and optimization of production costs.

Reasons

• constant changes of settings on the machines,
• a large number of orders, the majority being one piece only
• complex scheduling, which must, among other things, take into account the characteristics of the products.

• efficient scheduling of work operations which would connect with the existing ERP and MES systems,
• shortening the manufacturing process,
