European Utility Week 2019
INEA, as part of the GOFLEX consortium, participated at the largest energy transition event in Europe.
Paris was the place to be for all renewable energy experts and enthusiasts last week, as it hosted the joint European Utility Week 2019 and POWERGEN Europe. In just three days, over 18,000 energy authorities, innovators, and researchers had the opportunity to experience the energy transition of the future at the event with over 800 exhibitors from all over the world.
GOFLEX as a Horizon 2020 project, funded by the European Commission, had its place at the European Projects Area. Partners from INEA, BAUM Consult, IBM, University of Aalborg, and University of Cyprus enthused visitors at our booth, which featured a small working model of a virtual power system deployed on a small distribution grid that demonstrates flexibility trading. Every visitor had the opportunity to experience energy flexibility trading by plugging in their smart devices directly to the smart grid.
We also hosted a workshop on stabilizing smart grids using flexibilities and participated in a theatre session of European projects. The workshop saw attendance from various regulatory and development associations, such as ENTSO-E, E.DSO, CEDEC and Eurelectric, as well as Mark van Stiphout, the deputy head for research and innovation at the DG Energy in the European Commission.
European Utility Week and POWERGEN Europe return in October 2020 in Milan, under the joint brand of Enlit.
