GSM/GPRS Remote Terminal Unit RTU 4442

Remote process control and supervision

GSM/GPRS RTU 4442 is a terminal unit for remote supervision of geographically distant processes. The unit has built-in analog and digital inputs/outputs, which are directly connected with standard sensors and actuators.

By using the OPC Server technology, the obtained data are simply available in
various systems such as SCADA, databases and in own applications.

The use of GPRS technology provides a relatively high speed data transfer. The
interconnection between the remote location and the central control and supervisory system is practically uninterrupted and of low cost.

Communication

RTU terminal unit is an ideal solution for applications where a wireless connection between a remote process and a central control and supervisory system is needed. It is recommended to use the GPRS communication, which is today one of the lowest-cost data transfers and available almost everywhere in the world.

Data are transferred through a GSM/GPRS mobile operator network to internet network and further to the central control and supervisory computer. Data are transferred periodically according to the preset period or at a defined event - alarm. Concurrently with GPRS data transfer It can be used for GPRS data transfer and also for transferring short SMS messages can also be transferred that to inform the users about alarm events at the same time.

This is a duplex communication which also signifies a possibility enables of remote turning on or off of the terminal unit, or just changing the setting of the wanted required reference value.

Remote control of geographic distributed processes

OPC Server

A free OPC Server is enclosed for the communication with the remote terminal unit. It provides a simple application connection in the central control and supervisory system with a higher number of remote terminal units. The technology of OPC Server and clients is today one of the most extended widely spread and standard ways of linking industrial applications.
OPC Server also synchronizes the clock real time among all units and the central control and supervisory system. It provides time-coordinated data among various processes.

Extension Modules

The basic RTU 442 terminal unit can be extended with various additional input/output modules. These modules increase the number of signals and they are connected directly to the terminal unit. An example of such a module is EXT8DI, which extends the unit by 8 additional digital inputs.
